Community Workshops in Melton

Workshop Highlights: What Neighbours Told Us

Earlier this month, we hosted community workshops across Melton to ask a deceptively simple question: What makes a good neighbourhood, and how do we build more of them?

The answers were powerful and practical. Together, residents explored collaborative ideas to support these four key priorities:

Safety & Public Standards — parents want to feel their kids can walk safely.

Transport & Traffic — packed carparks and limited buses are wearing people down.

Community Spirit & Inclusion — people want more chances to connect across cultures and ages.

Green & Public Spaces — parks are vital, but they need to stay vibrant and engaging for all ages.

The conversations were rich, cross-cultural and solutions-focused. From unsafe crossings to the importance of role-modelling care for each other, residents shared both frustrations and hopes.100% of participants told us they were satisfied with the workshop.

More importantly, they showed how much appetite there is for real, collaborative conversations about the future of our communities.

Meeting with MP Luba Grigorovitch

It was great catching up with Kororoit MP Luba Grigorovitch to talk all things Good Neighbours - from transport challenges to community consultation and the importance of building neighbourhoods people feel proud to call home.

We’re grateful for Luba’s hands-on approach and action-oriented mindset. Community advocacy only works when local voices are heard, and it’s encouraging to see this commitment in practice.

Good Neighbours on ABC Radio Melbourne

Our work was recently featured on ABC Drive with Ali Moore, broadcasting live from Woodlea Town Centre, Aintree. The program explored one of the big questions we've been gathering data on, What do you think the west needs?

Our co-founder Judi Carr joined the conversation, sharing insights from the Good Neighbours Movement and recommendations to support happier, healthier communities.

Support Your Club, Group
or School — and Your Community

We’re excited to share an opportunity for local groups, clubs and schools to raise extra funds while helping shape the future of our community.

The Good Neighbours community survey is gathering feedback on what’s working — and what isn’t — in Melbourne’s fast-growing western suburbs. From transport to parks, safety to services, the more voices we hear, the stronger our case for better outcomes.

Here’s the opportunity:

  • Register your group or school.

  • Share the survey with your community.

  • Receive $5 for every survey completed through your group.

  • Use the funds for a project or activity of your choice.

We’ll provide everything you need — from custom survey links to flyers and social media tiles.

It’s vital that our community leaders understand the unique challenges faced by the pioneers living in newly established neighbourhoods. We recently had the opportunity to meet with City of Melton Mayor Cr Steve Abboushi and Cr Lara Carli to discuss the highs and lows of leadership and development in Australia’s fastest-growing municipality.

A special thank you to Claire Mouser, the 2024 City of Melton Citizen of the Year, for her support and exceptional coordination in making this conversation possible.
